Sony and Naughty Dog have revealed the special editions and pre-order bonuses for The Last of Us Part 1 following its formal announcement at Summer Game Fest.
On months, rumors have circulated that The Last of Us might be remade for the PlayStation 5. Thanks to Summer Game Fest, people now know it exists as The Last of Us Part 1. Many have questioned whether the game deserved to be remastered at all, given how well the original game stands up, but comparison shots of The Last of Us Remastered and the new PS5 Remake indicate a significant difference.
Ellie and Joel's narrative will undoubtedly be revisited by many, since The Last of Us is one of Sony's most popular franchises. It'll also have a separate multiplayer expansion in the future, as well as an HBO adaptation starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. With all of this Last of Us advertising, it's only natural to go back to the beginning, and Sony has now announced incentives for players who pre-order and/or purchase the game's Digital Deluxe or Firefly Editions.
Pre-orders are now open ahead of the September 2 release of The Last of Us Part 1, with pre-orderers receiving "extra supplements to increase your talent" and "additional weapon components for your arsenal." It should be noted that the game's base edition costs $69.99, and all versions of the game include the Left Behind DLC. The Last of Us Part 1: Digital Deluxe Edition, which costs $79.99, is the next step up.
Early unlocks are included in the Digital Deluxe edition, which should make the early hours even simpler. Without this edition, players will be able to unlock these in The Last of Us, but only at a later time. A 9mm Reload Speed upgrade, a Rifle clip capacity upgrade, explosive arrows, the Dither Punk filter, Speedrun Mode, and six weapon skins are among the early unlocks, which include Black Gold and Silver Filigree for pistols, Rubber Tactical and Sculpted Oak for shotguns, and Arctic White and Carbon Black for the bow.
Finally, The Last of Us Part 1: The Firefly Edition costs $99.99 and includes the Digital Deluxe Edition as well. It also includes a custom SteelBook case and the first four issues of the Last of Us: American Dreams comic series, which all have new cover art for this edition.
The leak of The Last of Us Part 1 before of Summer Game Fest may have spoiled the surprise for some, but that doesn't mean fans aren't excited. In the next months and/or upon release, it'll be fascinating to see how much the game has progressed and if any modifications have been made.
The Last of Us Part 1 will be released for PS5 on September 2nd, with a PC version in the works as well.
