Upcoming Anime 2022 and 2023
My Hero Academia: Season 6
Release date: October 1, 2022
My Hero Academia is a terrific entry-level anime for fans of action, and it's debatably one of the most popular Shonen of the last ten years. For those who are unaware, the world of My Hero Academia is one where heroes and villains actually exist. Izuku "Deku" Midoriya hasn't yet discovered his own peculiarities, despite the prevalence of them. The world's most powerful hero, All Might, gives him a way to the famous hero academy, UA High, giving him the chance of a lifetime. The battle scenes that follow have excellent character development.
My Hero Academia season 6 will adapt the Paranormal Liberation War arc, a highly anticipated arc from the manga, as was hinted at in the dying seconds of season 5's conclusion. Buckle yourself for the journey if director Kenji Nagasaki can do the narrative right. Also consider bringing some Kleenex.
Spy x Family: Cour 2
Release date: October 1, 2022
Spy x Family nearly immediately rose to the top of the Spring 2022 charts. In fact, the cosplays of Loid, Yor, and Anya were among the most popular at this year's Anime Expo. The story follows "Twilight," an undercover snoop on a mission to stop war from breaking out between the nations of Westalis and Ostania. It is a fantastic blend of belly-laugh humor, moving drama, and exciting action. The turn? He must "adopt" a family in order to keep his cover. Enter Anya and Yor, his murderous wife (his psychic daughter). You won't be able to stop watching if you simply give this one a try, even if it might seem a little unbelievable.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury
Release date: October 2, 2022
It's amazing to imagine that we're only now getting our first female lead in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise given how big it is. Nevertheless, it's a reason to rejoice, as the protagonist in question (Suletta Mercury) is prepared to provide the unadulterated mecha action we've grown to expect and adore.
Hiroshi Kobayashi (Spriggan) is in charge of directing this most recent episode, the first since Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans from 2015. It will take place in a universe distinct from prior episodes. While we may anticipate more of Gundam's distinctive fusion of political drama and science fiction, we can also probably expect to see some brand-new components added to the mix.
Golden Kamuy: Season 4
Release date: October 3, 2022
Golden Kamuy has gained a devoted following as a result of its nuanced portrayal of Japan in the early 20th century. Ainu girl Asirpa and veteran of the Russo-Japanese war Saichi Sugimoto make an unusual team as they search for a large amount of buried treasure in this novel. Despite having distinctly different motives, they are forced to cooperate in order to achieve their joint objective as they battle armies of ruthless competing treasure hunters. The series was given the go-ahead for a live-action version back in April 2022, so we shouldn't have to wait too long for a new installment of this historical adventure.
Mob Psycho 100: Season 3
Release date: October 5, 2022
Despite being frequently referred to as "niche," Mob Psycho 100 is a very approachable animation with wide appeal. Although it and My Hero Academia are produced by the same company (Bones), the two series have different storylines and aesthetics. Instead of being shamelessly action-heavy like My Hero Academia, Mob Psycho 100 dances with a slice-of-life feel. Whereas the latter offers bizarre visual spectacles, the former satisfies (and frequently exceeds) shonen standard animation.
Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama, a strong esper, is the subject of the television series. Like any adolescent, Mob has to deal with high school, first crushes, and uncertainty about his position and destiny despite his impressive psychic talents. Of course, his superpowers make things much more confusing.
Blue Lock
Release date: October 8, 2022
After a dismal showing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Japanese Football Union appoints hard-core coach Ego Jinpachi to identify the country's top striker in Blue Lock. His response? The Blue Lock project is a training program where 300 of the most talented athletes in the nation will be imprisoned while they compete for the desired position. Blue Lock would be the animated, soccer-focused spin-off if The Hunger Games had one. Anyone familiar with sports anime realizes how promising this may be because director Tetsuaki Watanabe has directed episodes of Haikyuu!!
Yowamushi Pedal: Limit Break (season 5)
Release date: October 9, 2022
The fifth season of Yowamushi Pedal, while with a little less vigor, is also waving the sports anime flag this fall. Similar like its modest lead Sakamichi Onoda, this lovable sitcom has quietly chugged along, enticing a devoted audience into its slipstream. Onoda is your standard otaku from high school. But after learning that the anime club at his school has disbanded, he finds himself thrust into the spotlight of the world of elite road racing.
Season 4 of Limit Break will be seamlessly continued in season 5. We can always count on top-notch character growth for Onoda and the people he has a way of running into and ultimately influencing.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War
Release date: October 11, 2022
The reappearance of Bleach is significant, there is no other way to phrase it. Fans are finally receiving an adaptation of the last manga arc, a full ten years after the series' last publication.
Bleach, regarded as one of the best Shonen anime of all time, is a supernatural drama full of unexpected narrative turns. Thousand Year Blood War will offer a much-appreciated conclusion to a narrative that would otherwise have left us hanging for those of us who persevered through all 366 episodes from 2004 to 2012. (unless we jumped to the manga in a desperate need for closure). Even just watching the teaser gives us hope that it will be worthwhile to put our grudges aside and watch it again. After all, Ichigo Kurosaki and company believe that their actions might determine the fate of all life.
Chainsaw Man
Release date: October 11, 2022
One of the most eagerly awaited film premieres this year is Chainsaw Man. The action/horror epic, which won Best Shonen at the Shogakukan Manga Awards and Best Manga at the Harvey Awards last year, has long been anticipated by Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga readers.
Denji, a young man from poverty who works as a Devil Hunter to pay off his father's yakuza debt, is the main character of the novel. On the edge of death due to a betrayal by his employers, Denji makes a deal with Chainsaw Devil Pochita to merge into Chainsaw Man. We know we're in for a special treat with a cast that includes director Ryu Nakayama (The Rising of the Shield Hero), action director Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover), and composer Kensuke Ushio (Devilman Crybaby).
Urusei Yatsura
Release date: October 14, 2022
Urusei Yatsura, a sci-fi/rom-com manga by Rumiko Takahashi, has seen two anime adaptations. Expectations are high because the original, which lasted from 1981 to 1986, is still regarded as a classic of the 1980s.
Ataru Moroboshi, a Japanese youth, is the main character of Urusei Yatsura. He is unintentionally engaged to Princess Lum, an extraterrestrial bride. The issue? He already has a girlfriend who is human. Ataru is a flawed guy who is prone to bad luck, which leads to a lot of the story's excitement and action. It will be intriguing to see if this reinvention has the same level of popularity as its predecessor. David Production, which previously gave us the vibrant worlds of Fire Force, Cells at Work, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, is in charge of the production.
To Your Eternity season 2
Release date: October 23, 2022
To Your Eternity, an unexpected success in the spring of 2021, won the Best Drama prize at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2022. To Your Eternity may provide some viewers with a much-needed break from the otherwise unrelenting forthcoming shonen bombardment since it is haunting and thought-provoking. Season 1 featured Fushi, an eternal entity brought to Earth who has the capacity to assume the forms of humans. It was praised for its engaging voice performances and philosophical plot. Fushi develops strong relationships with people he meets as he adjusts to life on our world and gradually learns what it means to be a human.
Although the studio for Season 2 has changed (from Brain's Base to Studio Drive), we should be in excellent hands because many of the show's key personnel have returned. Whatever the case, bring some Kleenex. Likely, we'll require at least as many as we did for the first 20 episodes.
Suzume no Tojimari (movie)
Release date: November 11, 2022
Suzume no Tojimari is a movie, not a series, so we're sort of cheating here, but it's still deserving of inclusion. You must be acquainted with 2016's Your Name and 2019's Weathering with You, creator Makoto Shinkai's prior major hits, if you haven't been living an anime-free existence under a rock for the past six years.
Suzume, a seventeen-year-old girl, is thrown into an adventure with a mystery young man who is closing doors all throughout Japan in Suzume no Tojimari. They are cosmic gateways of unimaginable havoc and devastation, not just any ordinary doors. Since Shinkai has a history of writing moving, emotive stories, we may anticipate that his 2022 release will be no different.
Vinland Saga season 2
Release date: January 2023
The first season of Vinland Saga had some of the most riveting character and plot development ever seen in anime in just 24 episodes. Finally, after four years and a studio change (from Wit to MAPPA), we're getting a second taste of the action/adventure story.
Like Golden Kamuy, Vinland Saga is another excellent choice for history aficionados since it combines fictitious drama from the Viking era. Thorfinn, a little child determined to get revenge on his father's killer, was the focus of the first season. His scheme? to advance to the position of trusted subordinate of the killer of his father.
Dr. Stone season 3
Release date: April 2023
Being a Dr. Stone fan right now is rewarding. Season 3 of Dr. Stone: Ryusui will premiere in the spring of 2023, following the July 2022 television special. The well-known science fiction story is set in a world where people have turned into stone. Senku Ishigami, our young protagonist, is one of the first people to be resurrected. After learning how to reanimate others, he begins to establish a civilization centered on science. The Stone Wars narrative will be continued in Season 3, however to fully appreciate the relevance of the character Ryusui in the series, you must have seen the TV special.
Attack on Titan season 4, Part 3
Release date: TBA 2023
This epic series' last book is going to be tremendous. Huge, in the sense of a Guinness World Record; it presently holds the title of "Most in-Demand Anime TV Show."
Attack on Titan depicts a world where people live behind reinforced walls to defend them from Titans—giant humanoid creatures—for those who haven't yet set foot in this gloomy, post-apocalyptic setting. Eren Jaeger enlists in the Survey Corps with a promise to aid in the Titans' destruction following a horrific breach of their city. For those who can stomach it, the show's insightful societal satire more than makes up for its excessive gore and brutality, which have drawn criticism. And obviously, there will be enough of both in season 4's finale.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 2
Release date: TBA 2023
Jujutsu Kaisen was named "Anime of the Year" at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2021 and ranked second among TV shows talked on Twitter in the same year (the Brazilian version of Big Brother took first place, for those wondering). One of the most eagerly awaited future anime series is season 2, thanks to the positive response and the popularity of the sequel movie (Jujutsu Kaisen 0).
Yuji Itadori, a high school student who joined his school's occult club for fun, was introduced to us in the first 24 episodes. But when Yuji ingests a cursed talisman and becomes cursed himself, his life takes an unexpected turn. The manga's creator, Gege Akutami, has said he has a rough idea of how the narrative will conclude, but only that much is known. Regardless of the cast, this trend-setting animation will continue to have lots of twists and turns.
