One Piece Odyssey : Release Date, Trailer, Gameplay, Price and more

The "big four" of anime and manga were once referred to as One Piece, Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Bleach. They gained this reputation as a result of their enormous popularity, impact, and capacity to last for many years, if not decades. However, Dragon Ball Super continues without its original creator even though only two of these four are still active. One Piece is by far the most popular anime and manga series ever, and it recently celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The newest installment of the One Piece series, One Piece Odyssey, was announced in May and would have its international premiere at Summer Game Fest in 2022. Eiichiro Oda, the author of the series, played a significant role in the game's direction, making it appear to be the most authentic to the series yet. Here is all we know about One Piece Odyssey, whether you've been a member of the Straw Hat group for a long time or are planning to set sail for the first time into the huge world of super-human pirates.

One Piece Odyssey's release date was specified as 2022 in the announcement, so it won't be that long away. In reality, the game won't release until January 12, 2023, which is the first day of the next year rather than in 2022.

All current console generations as well as the majority of older ones will receive One Piece Odyssey. That covers the Xbox Series X/S, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. There are currently no listings for Xbox One or Nintendo Switch versions, which is odd for Xbox given that a PS4 version is on the way.

One Piece Odyssey: Trailers

The iconic Straw Hat ship is shown partially submerged on an island beach in the opening scene of the announcement trailer. Along with several caverns and temple-like settings, the beach is littered with strange, vibrant, and bizarre-appearing animals. In a series of brief pictures taken around the island while climbing, looking for treasure, and simply exploring, we finally get a glimpse of Luffy and his crew. We also see a beautiful montage of the crew members' distinctive battle maneuvers. A strange person is seen approaching Luffy's abandoned hat in the beach as the video comes to a close.

Despite the lack of any storyline details, we do discover that Oda, the original creator, is responsible for both the tale and the new characters.

One Piece Odyssey's global premiere trailer, which appeared at Summer Game Fest, provides a lot more information about the game. When Luffy and his crew are traveling down the Grand Line when he notices an island with a beam of light shooting into the sky. This is how the game begins. Luffy, who is curious, wants to go explore, but as the Knock Up Stream shoots their ship into the air and crashes down on the island, the decision is decided for them.

The island then has a series of gaming components, including some fresh people. It concludes with the cryptic phrase, "This is an universe made from your memories.

Bandai did release a development diary with the games producer, composer, and current editor of the One Piece manga, however it wasn't a conventional trailer. They cover a lot, but the design of the game was intended to faithfully capture what made this manga so distinctive and evoke the sense of a grand journey contained in the source material. They single out the phrase "let's journey to the center of memories" as being essential to understanding the game's central idea.

One Piece Odyssey: Gameplay

Even while we only catch brief glimpses of gameplay, we do know that One Piece Odyssey will be a JRPG, which is still quite ambiguous. It sounds quite similar to current Dragon Quest games: enemies will be visible in the world, and players will have the option of choosing to confront them by coming into touch with them or avoid them. Battles are conducted using a turn-based system that seems primarily conventional. The "Scramble Area Battles," as they are known, are the foundation of this system. This breaks up combat into many places where your group and the opposition will face off at random.

The "Dramatic Scene" component of battles will also let a chance circumstance affect the conflict. Sanji may not be able to fight since he is surrounded by ladies, as an example gave. Players receive more prizes for overcoming certain situations.

We do know that you will be able to manage all of the Straw Hat gang, including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper Robin, Frankie, and Brook, to a certain extent. Each character has a different set of skills that you may switch between at any moment. For example, Zoro can cut through obstructions with his swords while Luffy has stretch arms.

The only other activities we witness are some open-air exploring, treasure hunting, and what appear to be puzzles.

According to how many players are supported on the game's box, One Piece Odyssey is a single-player only game. Sorry, but your crew cannot accompany you on this particular pirate expedition.

One Piece Odyssey is currently accepting preorders through the official website even though there is no set release date. Currently, they are just offering a Standard Edition for $60, but the selection choice might mean that they want to introduce further editions in the future. If they do, we'll update this page to include all the information you need to know.
